GEOGRAPHY

This land area, bounded by the Arabian Sea on the west; Thonithodu on the east; Kuthiyathodu Canal, Valletthodu, Changaram Thodu, and Chappakkadavu on the north; and on the south by the Thuravoor–Thaikkattussery Road, the section of the Thuravoor–Kumbalangi Road extending up to Desathodu, Araykkal Thodu, Karethodu, and the Pallithodu Road running westward from Chavadipalam, has an area of 985.46 hectares.

Along the seashore, the soil consists of sand. To the east of this, up to the Pallithodu Pozhichal, the land is composed of sandy soil mixed with silt. Further east, beyond the pozhichal, are black alluvial fields mixed with silt, and still further east the soil is predominantly clayey and silty.

The NH 47 running north–south separates Wards 2, 3, and 4 from Ward 1. On both sides of this highway, there is a sandy belt extending approximately 300 metres to the west and 250 metres to the east on average.

The remaining eastern part of Ward 1 consists of a mixture of sandy and silty uplands, paddy fields, marshlands, and areas interspersed with canals and watercourses.
